INDIANA, Pa. - QUOTA INTERNATIONAL OF INDIANA, PA INC. AWARDS SPEECH AND HEARING SCHOLARSHIP TO LOCAL STUDENT AT IUP
Jennifer Levy, of Harrison City, has been selected to receive the 2011 speech and hearing scholarship from Quota International of Indiana, Pa., Inc.
The speech and hearing scholarship is awarded annually to a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania who has shown outstanding promise in the field.
Levy, a speech-language pathology graduate student at IUP, has also received the Patterson Dental Scholarship and the IUP Reunion Year Scholarship. She is a dean’s list student, provost scholar and treasurer of the IUP chapter of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association.
She is the daughter of Chris and Debbie Levy, Buck Run Road, Harrison City, and is a 2007 graduate of Penn-Trafford High School.
Quota International of Indiana, Pa., Inc. is an international community impact organization. Over the past seven years, the group has raised almost $60,000 for community impact projects through its St. Patty’s Day open, an indoor miniature golf tournament in downtown Indiana. It also has donated more than $35,000 to the Alice Paul House, a shelter for domestic violence survivors and their children, over the past eight years.
Quota International of Indiana, Pa., Inc. also is a Bronze Sponsor for the Downtown Indiana Renaissance Indiana revitalization project.
Quota members continue an active schedule of community service, in addition to support of the Alice Paul House, including presentation of a Gold Scholarship for a nontraditional female student who has successfully completed the New Choices, New Options program; a mentoring program for girls and teens; and donations of speech and hearing resources.
Quota International has more than 6,000 members in 300 clubs in 13 countries. Its primary philanthropies include service to those who are deaf or hard of hearing and to disadvantaged women and children.
