J.C. Penney Salon as the 2008 Special Friend of Quota

Quota International of Indiana expressed its appreciation to J.C. Penney Salon as the 2008 Special Friend of Quota at its January meeting of the Club.

Quota of Indiana president Connie McCardle presented the award to J.C. Penney Salon Manager Tracey Redd. The award honors a business or group for its continued commitment to Quota International of Indiana and its community service programs.

Most recently, J.C. Penney’s Salon worked with Quota to donate gift items for older children for Christmas in the Little Hands Big Hearts program (formerly Big Brothers Big Sisters). J.C. Penney’s Salon has also been an active participant in Quota’s mentoring program by serving as a business tour site and presenter and also donated a make-over for one of the youth participants during the 2007 business tour.

Penney’s Salon and Redd have also participated with Quota’s “Dressing for Success” program for youth in the community through its mentoring program and been a significant donor for the Fun for all Bowling Activity for children and teenagers in the Little Hands Big Hearts program. J.C. Penney’s Salon also had donated products and stylist time for Quota’s Spa Day fundraising program during all three Spa Day events.

The first “Friend of Quota” award was presented to The Coney Island in 2006 for its continued support of Quota International of Indiana and its community service projects.

“Quotarians are very dedicated to our programs, especially our mentoring initiatives, but we could not be anywhere near as successful in our outreach without the support and generosity of businesses like J.C. Penney’s Salon,” said McCardle. “We truly appreciate the Salon and Tracey’s continued willingness to say ‘yes’ to us to help us with our community service programs,” she said.

During the meeting, Quotarians heard an update on plans for the fifth annual Alice Paul House fundraising event set for Jan. 31 at The Coney Island from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A limited number of tickets, priced at $25, remain for the event.

All food, space, service, printing and entertainment for the event is donated in order that all funds raised through ticket sales go directly to the Alice Paul House. The 2008 event is expected to raise $5,000 for the Alice Paul House, bringing to $23,000 the total that Quota International has donated to the APH during the past five years.

Quotarians are also actively planning for the third annual St. Patty’s Day open event planned for March 14. This event has raised almost $13,000 for community service initiatives in its first two years.
