Quota International of Indiana presented a financial donation to the Horace Mann Elementary School
Athena Club during its meeting on Nov. 28.
Quota presented the funds in recognition of the Athena Club’s commitment to leadership and service to women and service to community.
Quotarians are actively planning for its upcoming Alice Paul House benefit on Jan. 31 and its St. Patty’s Day Open indoor golf tournament fundraiser set for March 14. Quotarians have also volunteered for the Salvation Army kettle campaign in December and will work the gates for the Festival of Lights on Dec. 17. The Speech and Hearing Committee also is working on placement of the club’s fourth sound amplification system, this year in the Purchase Line school district.
Quota International Inc. is an 88-year-old international service organization that links members of all ages, occupations and nationalities in a worldwide network of service and friendship. With a motto of "we share," Quotarians are known especially for their service to deaf, hard-of-hearing and speech impaired individuals and disadvantaged women and children.
Quota International of Indiana, with 50 active members, meets monthly at the Indiana Elks for a dinner meeting August through May. Quota of Indiana celebrated its 52 th anniversary in September.
Quota of Indiana also recently collected items for the Salvation Army “Back to School” drive and for the Eastern Orthodox Foundation.
Over the past four years, Quota and The Coney have together raised almost $18,000 to support initiatives for women and children at the Alice Paul House, including a new playground at the facility. Quotarians also collect specific items of need throughout the club year for the Alice Paul House.
In June, Quotarians held a special mentoring event for young men and women in the community at the S&T Bank Training Center. The program was designed to offer information on interviewing and answer questions by the youth about possible careers and professionals from throughout the Indiana community representing a number of careers presented during the day-long event. Mentoring program events continued in July with all-day recreational event with the student group.
Quotarians raised almost $7,000 during the second annual St. Patty’s Day Open in March 2006, an indoor nine-hole golfing event in Downtown Indiana to raise funds for the club’s service projects.
Quota International representatives also took part in the community’s June 1 “Stand for Children” event in Indiana County and the August “Circles of Influence” event showcasing women’s groups in Indiana County.
