QUOTA INTERNATIONAL OF INDIANA INC. INSTALLS NEW MEMBER, RECOGNIZES MEMBERS FOR YEARS OF SERVICE

Quota International of Indiana, Pa.  Inc. formally installed new member Jaime Kunselman, of Indiana, at its Dec. 16th meeting and honored members for five, 10 and 15 years of membership.

Members honored for five years of membership were Connie Bence, Cindy Cantor, Jane Erdman, Mary Morgan, Dee Dee Snyder, and Karen Stein, all of Indiana.

Michelle Fryling and Barb Peles, both of Indiana, were honored for 10 years of membership and Linda Brown and Megan White, both of Indiana, were honored for 15 years of membership.

Quotarians also made final plans for the seventh annual Alice Paul House fundraiser set for Jan. 28, 2010.

Over the past six years, Quota and The Coney have together raised almost $28,000 to support initiatives for women and children at the Alice Paul House, including a new playground at the facility. Quotarians also collect specific items of need throughout the year for the Alice Paul House.

Quotarians are actively planning for the fifth annual St. Patty’s Day Open on March 12, 2010, a nine-hole, indoor golf tournament to support Downtown Indiana and local charities in the Indiana community. Quota International of Indiana is a Bronze Sponsor for the Downtown Indiana Renaissance Indiana revitalization project.

Quota International Inc. is a 90-year-old international service organization that links members of all ages, occupations and nationalities in a worldwide network of service and friendship.  With a motto of "we share," Quotarians are known especially for their service to deaf, hard-of-hearing and speech impaired individuals and disadvantaged women and children.

Quota International of Indiana, with 50 active members, meets monthly at the Indiana Elks. Quota of Indiana celebrated its 54th anniversary in September.

Other projects include ongoing mentoring events, including a business tour; a career planning event; and a summer pool party; support for Deaf Awareness Day at the Indiana Mall; purchase of classroom amplification systems for children who are hard of hearing; and support for the local ATHENA elementary school club.

Quotarians also are sponsoring a family through the Salvation Army Treasures for Children program, providing holiday gifts for a family in the Big Hearts, Little Hands program, and participated in the Salvation Army Red Kettle program and volunteered at the Blue Spruce Festival of Lights.

Quota of Indiana also recently made donations to the Saving Soles Inc., program, providing shoes for women entering the workforce, the first Back to School Bash program; to ICCAP homeless shelter; and to the IUP ATHENA Club, the first ATHENA club at a college or university.  Funds from Quota will be used for programming initiatives of the club, which includes approximately 15 members.
