QUOTA OF INDIANA INSTALLS NEW OFFICERS

Quota International of Indiana installed its new officers at its June meeting.

Officers for 2008-2009 include: Meghan Foulk, president; Connie McCardle, president-elect; Amy Taylor-Liboski, vice president; Betsy Lauber, secretary; Cindy Cantor, treasurer; Jean Stephens, treasurer-elect; all of Indiana; and board members Linda Brown of Marion Center; Michelle Fryling, Indiana, and Barb Peles, Indiana.

Quota International Inc. is an 89-year-old international service organization that links members of all ages, occupations and nationalities in a worldwide network of service and friendship. With a motto of "we share," Quotarians are known especially for their service to deaf, hard-of-hearing and speech impaired individuals and disadvantaged women and children.

Quota International of Indiana, with 52 active members, meets monthly at the Indiana Elks for a dinner meeting. Quota of Indiana celebrated its 52nd anniversary in September 2007.

In March, Quota of Indiana raised $10,000 during the St. Patty’s Day golf outing, used to support Downtown Indiana’s Renaissance project and the club’s community initiatives.

In February, the club raised $5,000 during the fifth annual Alice Paul House event Upstairs at the Coney. Over the past five years, Quota and The Coney have together raised more than $23,000 to support initiatives for women and children at the Alice Paul House, including a new playground at the facility.

In March, Quota hosted a bowling party- mentoring event with more than 25 children and teens from Indiana County’s Big Hearts, Little Hands program and Children and Youth Services’ Independent Living and Learning program. In June, Quotarians hosted children and teens at Blue Spruce Park for a “survivor” mentoring event.

Quota International of Indiana hosted the District III Conference April 25-27. This event included more than 55 Quotarians from throughout western Pennsylvania from District III Clubs in Altoona, Blairsville, Hermitage, Indiana, Johnstown and Shenango Valley and representation from Quota International leadership.

Other current Club projects include ongoing mentoring events, presentation of a scholarship for a student in speech and hearing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; financial support of Deaf Awareness Day at the Indiana Mall and purchase of a four classroom amplification system.
