QUOTA INTERNATIONAL OF INDIANA INC. PRESENTING
FIRST “WITCHES AND WARLOCKS” HARVEST BALL FUNDRAISING EVENT
Date: Sept. 2008
Quota International of Indiana Inc. is hosting a Witches and Warlocks Harvest Ball on Oct. 18 at Rustic Lodge from 8 to 11:30 p.m. The night includes heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. For ticket information, contact Quotarian Barb Peles, committee co-chair, at 724-349-8077 or visit Quota’s website at indianapaquota.org.
“Quota has been incredibly successful in our fundraising events over the past several years and we’ve become known for our St. Patty’s Day event, which we will continue this year in the spring,” Peles said. “We wanted to do something this fall to celebrate the season, and we’ve designed the Witches and Warlocks Harvest Ball to appeal to adults of all ages. You do not have to be in costume to come and enjoy the evening, which is not only a masquerade ball, but will offer unique fall foods.”
Quotarian Cheryl Randal, of Indiana, is co-chairing the event with Peles.
“Cheryl has extensive experience as a costume designer for professional theater productions on Broadway and for Broadway touring companies all over the world. She did a fantastic job with the decorations for our recent Quota District Conference, and we’re all set to transform the Rustic Lodge with Halloween and fall décor.”
In August, Indiana Quotarians volunteered with the Altoona Miracle League, a program to help handicapped children play baseball in a specially designed field. This program is an initiative of Quota International of Altoona. Quotarians from Indiana learned about this volunteer opportunity at the recent Quota District Three conference, hosted in April by Quota of Indiana. District Three includes Indiana, Altoona, Blairsville, Hermitage, Johnstown, New Castle and Shenango Valley clubs.
In July, Indiana Quotarians made a financial donation to Grace United Methodist Church of Indiana to provide interpreter services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. In October, Quotarians will co-sponsor a hayride for deaf individuals and their families with Grace United Methodist Church. The Quota speech and hearing committee also is obtaining ear plugs for free distribution at the Indiana County events.
In June, Indiana Quotarians raised $100 during a Mary Kay makeover event to be split between Quota service projects and the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation. Club members also hosted a mentoring event for teens from Children and Youth Services’ Independent Living and Learning program.
In April, members collected new and gently worn shoes for the “Saving Soles” project for women re-entering the workforce.
In March, Quota of Indiana raised $10,000 during the St. Patty’s Day golf outing, used to support Downtown Indiana’s Renaissance project and the club’s community initiatives.
In February, the club raised $5,000 during the fifth annual Alice Paul House event Upstairs at the Coney. Over the past five years, Quota and The Coney have together raised more than $23,000 to support initiatives for women and children at the Alice Paul House, including a new playground at the facility.
Other current Club projects include ongoing mentoring events, presentation of a scholarship for a student in speech and hearing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; financial support of Deaf Awareness Day at the Indiana Mall and purchase of a fourth classroom amplification system. For the last two years, the club has sponsored interpreter services at the Indiana County Leader’s Circle program.
